Child Custody and Visitation

Connecticut Child Custody and Visitation Lawyer

No one knows your child like you. That is why if you and your spouse are getting a divorce, issues such as child custody and visitation may be best resolved together without legal intervention. At the law office of Carl Ferraro, Attorney at Law, we will work diligently to assist you in developing a parenting plan that is in your child's best interests and not otherwise mandated by a judge who does not know you or your child.

To discuss your legal questions and concerns related to your child custody case with a knowledgeable, experienced, and attentive divorce and family law attorney, please contact us today. We will meet with you in a free initial consultation to understand your goals.

There are two types of child custody: legal custody and physical custody

Legal custody - determines whether one or both parents are allowed to make important decisions related to their children, such as those involving medical care and education. Joint custody is typically the best option in legal custody cases.

Physical custody - determines where the children live. It is common for parents to have joint legal custody, while one parent's home remains the primary residence of the children.

If your custody case goes to trial, you forfeit all power, both now and in the future, to tailor a parenting plan suited to your children’s best interests. Because of this, it may be best to work hard at establishing a parenting plan that suits the needs of both parents and children, rather than leaving it up to a third party. We will put forth every effort to help you achieve an arrangement without the need for a courtroom battle.

Even though you are getting divorced, you are still parents. As such, you have many decisions to make together that will affect your kids. Attorney Carl Ferraro has been handling these cases since 1991. Trust our firm’s experience, knowledge, and commitment to you and your children.
